The Address Management Unit (AMU), within the Electoral Office, was setup in 2016 and was vested with the responsibility of the managing and updating of addresses in Malta and Gozo, mainly through two key processes: door numbering and street naming exercises. The AMU is also responsible to update address data in the Electoral Register and in the Address Management System. Additionally, the AMU is also responsible to spearhead the creation of an Address Register which shall act as the primary source of address information. Ultimately, the Address Register will be the authoritative registry of all streets and addresses in the Maltese archipelago, including spatial data.
